Mala beads are a traditional tool used to support a meditative mantra recitation practice called Japa. They are a beautiful and tangible reminder that our highest intentions are bodied forth by the step-by-step and breath-by-breath evolution of conscious practice both on and off the mat.

In this 3-hour workshop, you will learn the ancient art of mala-making. You will start the process of beading and hand tying your own custom mala consisting of 108 beads, receive detailed instructions on how to add a guru bead and hand-tie a tassel.

The cost of the workshop includes a mala-making kit. You will receive 108 fragrant wooden beads, a selection of semi-precious stone beads, tassel thread, beading needles, and complete instructions on how to complete your custom mala project.

Please bring your reading glasses. We are working with larger, 8mm beads but the process requires some meditative focus.

Instructor:
YuMee is a yoga teacher who learned the art of mala-making on a journey to northern India. She loves both the japa mantra practice and the practice of mala-making as forms of embodied spirituality.

Investment: $65 + HST
